Want GLOWING & HEALTHY skin this summer?

Change in season requires change in habits. Who doesn’t love glowing skin?

Don’t worry if you follow half of these tips, you can still flaunt naturally glowing and healthy summer skin.

Wash your face twice with a gentle hydrating gel based facewash

The reason to wash your face twice in summers is because your face tends to get more oily and this can attract dirt, pollutants from the atmosphere fairly quickly. However, this doesn’t mean you have to opt for harsh, scrub like facewash to wash every layer of dirt from the skin.

No, not at all.

This mistake can cost you more in the long run. You might get happy to see an oil free matte looking face but within 30 minutes or so face will start to produce sebum (nature’s way of moisturising our skin) and you’ll end up with oily skin again.

The best bet is to use a gentle, foaming, gel based facewash with skin loving properties like manuka honey, aloe vera and glycerin to quench thirsty and dehydrated skin like this one on the left

Be generous with SPF

No summer care is complete without using SPF, and that too with broad spectrum at least SPF 50. If your SPF hydrates your skin then you can skip moisturiser in summers but don’t opt for a heavy pore clogging sunscreen or SPF in summer.

We often forget our hands, neck and ears when applying SPF. Please don’t do that as they’re equally exposed to the sun as your face.

Protect your skin from sun with accessories

Double protection is a good idea, right?

On top of applying SPF, you can save your skin from sun damage by wearing hats, caps and sunglasses. These will physically block the sun’s harmful UVA & UVB rays. Plus you can look more chic while flaunting your summer fashion.

Time to take out your favourite summer hat and sunglasses from your closet for your next walk in the park or grocery run!

Fruits & veggies

Have you ever wondered why nature brings so many varieties of fruits and vegetables during summer? Because nature knows our skin NEEDS it. Fruits and vegetables contains high % of water content that is beneficial for us in summers where we lose it in the form of sweat.

Apart from water, all these colourful nature bounties aka fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and anti oxidants that are essential for glowing and healthy skin in summers.

Drink more water than you normally do

There are ways you can trick your body in drinking more water. Firstly, buy a big water bottle that hold at least 1 litre and has time stamps to remind you to drink water at intervals.

You can also add mint, lemon and cucumber to your water bottle and turn it into detox water. Personally, I like the taste of detox water and it helps me in drinking more than usual.

If you’re serious and like reminders, then install apps that send water reminders during the day. This will make you accountable without the need of someone telling you to drink more water in a day.

Be friends with RETINOL aka vitamin A

If someone tells you retinol is too harsh for your skin then they are probably using the WRONG one!

You should choose a gentle formula like 0.5% pro-retinol with hydrating elements like hyaluronic acid, collagen and light weight oils jojoba, apricot kernel & rosehip. Try Skin Renewal and let it work wonders on your skin

Use a clay mask

Clays have skin beneficial properties depending on the type you use. Not every clay will suit your skin but the right type will help to deep clean pores that usually get bigger during summer.

Clay masks are popular in skincare routines because they offer deep cleaning without being abrasive on your skin.

Exercise-move your body

Make it a routine to move your body every day. It can be cardio, muscle, pushups, yoga or a simple walk in the park. When you move, you sweat, when you sweat, you release toxins from your body. Exercise ensures your body functions in a healthy way. Exercise also has a major contribution in how you feel from inside. Mental wellbeing helps to reduce stress and in turn that reflects positively on your skin.

Remember, when you feel good, you’ll look good.

Wash your face with cold water

You used hot water to shower and wash your face during winters, right? Everybody is guilty of doing that.

Summer is when you should switch from hot to cold water. Try it and you’ll see instant results. Your face will be clear, less inflamed and glowing.

Fancy cooling down after gym or a run? Wash your face with cold water as it will act as a hydrating mist while shrinking your pores that got open during intense cardio activity.

Keep your makeup simple

Everyone loves makeup. Who doesn’t love wearing makeup on their summer holidays?

Practically, everyone.

My friendly suggestion to you during summers is to go a little light on makeup especially during the day. You can still choose to look beautiful with light makeup that enhance your natural features without suffocating your skin.

Use SPF 50, SPF , blush, lip balm or lip tint and you’re ready to go!

Fake your tan

We all wait for summers to get tanned under the sun but here’s why you shouldn’t do it.

Tan means your skin has already been damaged with sun’s UVA & UVB rays and needs care & repair. Not recommended by any skin expert. Don’t believe if someone says that healthy sun tan is good for your skin. Tan means sun damage.

So how do you achieve the sun kissed look?

By using tanning products. It’s better than sitting directly under the sun to get that sun kissed look.

Enjoy summer with these helpful tips to have healthy glowing skin all season 😊
